Whatever happened to NOVL Cub?Does anyone remember NOVL Cub? NOVL Gent? NOVL Moneeq? NOVL InRedShoes?
Wow, it’s been awhile since the days when I regularly typed out and thought of those names, but I can honestly say that I won’t ever completely forget them and the site that we were all a part of, Amazing Novelist. What exactly was the official name of that whole ordeal? For somethi9ng I devoted much of four years too, much of those memories have been lost, and the last time I attempted to find it, I got some odd message board. Call me old school(and if you are not snickering to even think of it like that you aren’t living), but the switches didn’t work.
Honestly, the entire blog phenomenom eliminated the need for that board, and the niche it fell into.
But, here is my take on it, I’m not even sure how many years later, followed by a post I made near the end of my tenure at the Amazing Instant Novelist Boards.
First of all, this all started on AOL, on a message board called Amazing Instant Novelist, keyword: sixty and then to the short story boards. It was a contest, where you could win nothing, but at times there were nearly two hundred original posts a week, which someone had to read. That was where us NOVL’s came in, we read them, judged the best ones, and wrote reports on them. It was all quite self indulgent in retrospect, but as you can read in Silicon Window, I took it very seriously.
Anyway, I wrote a lot back then, but in the end, most of it is gone, or just bad. I had to dig hard into backups to find even the Silicon Window. I plan on posting many instant stories and maybe even try to write some new ones, but not as forced as it was in those days. I remember once that I assembled all of my posts for a year, and it was nearly two hundred, then finding that many of them were insultingly contrived. Wow, does that relate to the whole blog phenomenom?
No matter, I’m back baby!
Alright, I was NOVL Cub, Ron, …. meta4man these days and my life is quite different than when I began being NOVL Cub. I am not remarried, but I am in a committed, long-term relationship with someone who is wonderful and thinks the same of me. She is going to have our child sometime in the next two weeks, a girl, and I’m wound up about it to say the least. More about that on my main web page: meta4worldz.com.
I graduated from college in 2002, and went around trying to find a programming job for a while until now I am back working construction. I am now a weathered old writer, and I believe that shows through in what I put down these days.
After moving around for a few years, I am back in DeKalb, and content with that, finally. I grew up in these corn fields, and want to raise my daughter in them.
As for the other NOVL’s I have named, I miss you guys, I hope that somehow, someway I will find myself hearing from you again, and reading your work.

*laf* The things I find at 3am simply amaze me. LTNS Cub. I hope you’re doing well even though your post above is over 2 years old. Everytime I hear about the Cubs on the news or see a pic of Wrigley, I always think of you.

NOVL Lamnt,
There was definitely a reason I put that title and blog and tags out there, to hear from the Old Novl buddies I had. Glad to know that some of you think of me too.
Things are even more awesome now, most of what I write now is on the main blog though I link to and use this one for things as well. Keep in touch, and thanks for the insomnia that brought you around.

Glad you put this out there Cub.
I was an active poster there and good friends
with Moneeq/Lisa and Est/Loralee.
Moneeq and I went to NJ together for the big party.
Ah…The memories! Shoes, Swede and all the others. Too much fun!
